When I was a young magician I could not afford a big guillotine but I was able to purchase a Finger Chopper. It was not until many years later I used a 6 foot guillotine in my show. It was impressive to look at but I will say the reaction I got from the audience with that Finger Chopper was almost the same.
Years ago they made the Finger Chopper with metal but they stopped doing that when a young magician did not properly perform it and broke someone’s finger. Now they are mostly made of plastic. But one I sell, the blade is metal but not the frame, so it really harmless.
What makes it entertaining is your presentation and the patter you use to create the illusion. You will see in the photo and the video I have posted a newspaper with a fake finger glued to it. When would count down, 3, 2, just before I said, 1. I would stop and open the newspaper and laid on the floor under the chopper. That gave me a lot of laughs.
You will see in the photo an old metal version of the Finger Chopper along with the one that I sell.
